Word of the Week - ABIOGENESIS

Disclaimer: All words that I choose come from the 1968 edition of the Webster's New World Dictionary, 2nd college edition. It's close and also nearly 40 years old so we may come across some words that are no longer in general use or have completely changed definitions. But that is part of the fun.

abiogenesis (n) same as spontaneous generation (the theory now discredited) that living organisms can originate in nonliving matter independently of other living matter.
And what in the world can you do with this word? Well, you could write a sentence using it. You could look it up in another dictionary or reference book. (a search box from Merriam-Webster is available at the bottom of my sidebar for your use.) Use it as a jump start for a short story. If applicable, find a picture of it. Whatever you do, post a link in my comments so I can check it out and put a link back to your post. And have fun.

UPDATE You can find posts with the word of the week here:
Digi Scrapping by Carinc who has a interesting if somewhat unusual post about it.

One abiogenesis said to another: "Hey, where did you come from?"
Answer: "Does it matter?"

So did abiogenesis spontaneously generate from the theory supporting it? I'm not surprised the theory succumbed to the pressure.
