Father of the Bride

Mom and her dad before her wedding to my dad. And apparently there are two pictures where he doesn't have a tie on. Wonder how many more I'm going to find? I also wonder what they both were thinking when this picture was taken.

Teens

Look there is the palm tree again, this time when my mom was a teenager and in high school. Love the Capri pants (although, I'm sure that is not what they called them then). The white slacks, white shirt really makes her dark hair stand out. She was such a lovely girl and I'm glad we have the pictures as a glimpse into her past.

Siblings

When my mom's youngest brother (the little one on the left) saw this picture, he spent hours trying to remember the name of the dog. He never did determine the proper name, but said it was their father's dog. Funny, the palm behind them was still there when I was a kid. We use to find little frogs in it all the time.

One of my favorites

This is one of my favorite pictures of my mother with her dad. I love her mischievous grin, like she has a secret but isn't going to let anyone else in on it. I think I have only seen one photo of my grandfather without a tie on. Things were definitely different in those days.

A walk down memory lane

For the next couple of weeks I will be taking a walk down memory lane. And not necessarily my own. This is my mom's baby picture, taken sometime in 1937. For many years it hung in my grandmother's house, but upon her death mom put it in her own bedroom where it stayed until I got it when she died. Now I have to get it hung and I have a place of honor for it on my wall of pictures. Just need to get it up.

Tom Sawyer Island

Template by Yin; Flitterific ©Kelly Ditmore; Happiest Memories ©Happy Scrap Girl Designs
As many years as we have been coming to Disney, it is funny that this was the first year we ever went over to Tom Sawyer’s Island. Other than riding the raft over to it, there wasn’t much to do except walk around and look at the view of the park the island offered. Which was spectacular, of course.

Haunted Mansion... woooooo

Template by Yin; Flitterific ©Kelly Ditmore; Happiest Memories ©Happy Scrap Girl Designs
Of course, we could not miss spending time on one of my most favorite rides…The Haunted Mansion. I think it is great what they have put on all the gravestones as you are in line waiting to get on the ride. Then we had an opportunity to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Star Command and try our hand at defeating the infamous Zorg. We even managed to get a glimpse of Woody and Jessie, as well as Mrs. Incredible on our stroll through.

Magic Kingdom II

Template by Yin; Flitterific ©Kelly Ditmore
While at the Magic Kingdom I spent time at Philharmagic, Peter Pan's Flight and It's a Small World. When Tom was with me, there were character greetings and Disney landmarks to hit. As I told you yesterday, I got to meet Wendy from Peter Pan. While Pan gets a personal welcome from none other than Buzz Lightyear himself. After that he bumped into Blinkley from Lilo and Stitch. Looks like Blinkley is already for a vacation too. Then there was the Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain to take in. (What’s that? Everywhere we went, we ran into Stitch.)

Magic Kingdom in Yellow

Okay, that's me with Wendy Darling. We caught up with her just as we entered the Magic Kingdom and before we started our all-day trek through the theme park. More tomorrow.

Barns Plus

Old barns, some cows, a field, a river and a road sign in someone's yard, turned the wrong way. What would the old buildings tell us if they could talk? Would the stories be happy, sad or perhaps somewhat boring? Some even look as if they may still be in use.

Old & Interesting Stores

Most closed. A few seemed to be open but we didn't stop to verify. How sad. I would have liked to have seem some of them in their heyday. Pan actually remembered to stop so that I could get a picture of the Piggly Wiggly pig before it was moved to some obscure location out off site and out of mind.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my daughter-in-law. I hope that she has a wonderful day and many more birthdays to come.

All roads lead home

To some one's home anyway. We passed quite a few older homes along the way that I had not seen previously. Possibly because I was being interrupted by Indy or possibly because my eyes were all watered up from dropping them off in the past. This time Indy returned with us. But at least he got to spend some time with his mom. I wish I hadn't gotten part of the truck in the fourth picture down. That one is my favorite. I'll have to see how it looks if I crop it and then desaturate it.

Southern Comforts

Another stroll down the back roads and highways of the south as we take the Princess back to meet up with her mother. Just for a week, then her dad will go get her and bring her back for just a week. Lots of pavement under the tires this summer.

Little building with a flag waving in the breeze. Museums, run-down gas stations, an interesting building that we never figured out what it was suppose to be. Tractor "cows" grazing in the field. And what about the pest control billboard? Rather shocking to look up and see a giant spider hanging in the air.

Photo Ops

One Saturday during the summer, ddpuppies, the Princess and myself took a photography class to learn more about our cameras. The Princess ended up with mine, but I did take it back a couple of times to get some pictures.

Anatomy of a Cannoball

Indy is so expressive when he is contemplating and following through on a cannonball into the pool. Every move is exaggerated and large. That's what makes photographing him doing one so much fun.

Chillin'

Finally, another day we could get to the pool. And we had it to ourselves for most of the morning. With the exception of a butterfly that just didn't seem to want to be anywhere else. Even flew over Indy multiple times while he was in the pool. But then Indy spent most of his time under the water so didn't get to see it to often.
