On Tuesday afternoon we headed over to Disney's Animal Kingdom. When we brought the kids several years ago, Animal Kingdom had not been built, so this gave us a chance to see something the kids had not seen.

Side note: If you are trying to learn Japanese then this day of the week in Japanese is Kayƍbi. (thanks to dayoftheweek.org)

It's all a matter of perspective

Project 2013 01Jan ©Connie Prince, template by Trixie Scraps
I have always been fascinated by the perspective streets and photo spots at Universal. It was really fun when Pan could go with me so that we could get the pictures with one of us in them. Now I might take them, but it is just not the same.

When did he...

Project 2013 01Jan ©Connie Prince, template by Trixie Scraps
Looking back over that week, I'm trying to visualize when Pan actually went to the conference. Because that is what he was actually there for. I think the Universal parks may have stayed open later than they do now. Disney has always stayed open late, so spending time there was no problem. I think I have been labeling some of these as vacations, but that really isn't what they always are. So I have added a new label "travels". Now if I just remember it's there, LOL.

Disney what?

Back when I was skinnier, I could actually hide behind the Bug. Not now though. And is it "Disney Marketplace" or "Downtown Disney"? I've heard it both ways, and when I look back at some of the photoes, I have used both on the folder names. Just a meandering stray thought that occasionally wanders through my brain.

Bug & Brains

It's good to be working on scrapbooking again. And with some of Cassel's scripts that I recently purchased, doing them is a breeze and keeping track of what kits I used is even better. In 2000, we met up with Bug and Brains in Orlando for a day of fun. Unfortunately none of the photos I took inside of Disney Quest came out. I was using a digital camera and shortly thereafter, it really took a nosedive and I had to get a new one (okay a used one from Nuke).

The Blues

After our visit to the Lego shop in Downtown Disney, it was time to decide where to eat lunch. Was it going to be at the Blues Brothers restaurant or Rainforest Cafe? Rainforest won out, only because the Blues Brothers was not open for lunch.

Trying to get back into getting the travel pages done. One of these years I would really like to have a coffee table book made (but then that would mean I would have to get a coffee table). Speaking of coffee tables, do you know anyone that still has one or uses one? My little sister does but she is the only one I can think of off hand that does.

Good Times

We'll Always Have Paris ©designs by helly
DC will be holding a garden party for the ladies group in April. She brought the kind of hat that she would like for us to wear to the dinner. Each of us took a turn on trying it on. Hands down, it looks the best on DC, but then she is so elegant anyway.

Good Friends,

We'll Always Have Paris ©designs by helly
Once a month, several women of the community (me included) get together for a night out. Wine, dine and good conversations, spark a evening of frivolity and fun. In January we met at French restaurant. More tomorrow.

Legos & outdoor theater?

Well looky here. JS has come across my netbook. He stops to take a look at Indy who had just skpyed me. I don't believe JS stayed too long as when I looked back he was gone. I found him hanging of the side of my wine glass. Fortunately I rescued him before he took a tumble into it.

Legos and Photography

Some time ago I posted a link to a site where a gentleman photographed Lego people in the real world. I just loved looking at all the different ways he would pose his characters. Finally, I got around to trying it myself. Here Jack Sparrow navigates through a forest of aromatic and colorful strawberries. Who knows what the morrow will bring...

Woot, Woot

To quote Gru... "That's what I'm saying." This is what all the exercise if for. To keep it down permanently and hopefully get off the medication. Even if I do get off, I will still have to keep up with the exercise and eating right to keep it down.

A good start to the day

They say a good breakfast is the only way to start the day. And I love the pancake recipe that I got from a Diabetic Living magazine. Even the grands love them. It normally calls for bananas and blueberries to be mixed with sugar free maple syrup, lemon juice and cinnamon, but I ran out of bananas and used nectarines instead. Still very good. Then add a glass of low-fat milk and a cup of coffee (my only descent into real sugar and cream), along with a good book, and the day is starting to look pretty good.
Since there is usually only me here to eat the pancakes, I cook them all up and the extras (after cooling) are wrapped in a paper towel, placed in a ziplock bag and refridgerated. Then each morning I heat the oven to 350 degrees, put two pancakes on a baking sheet and heat for 8-10 minutes. Perfection.

Leave Me Alone

As if that is going to happen. He annoys me, I annoy him and we both win. He was quite amusing the other day when he wanted Me to pet him. I was leaning on the bed watching Pan play his game before I had to go finish up dinner. Cat decided I needed to pet him. Not hardly likely. He kept trying to sneak up under my chin and I kept headbutting him away. Finally he plopped down on the bed like he was tired of trying.
Next thing I knew he was stretching. Such a tired kitty, but what he actually was doing was pulling himself closer and closer to be petted. Before long he was nearly where he wanted to be and the timer went off and I left. Poor baby.

Waiting, waiting, waiting

Before I forget, Happy Valentine's Day to my sweetie. He's taking me to one of my favorite restaurants tonight. A Japanese grill (which they insist on calling a hibachi when it is really a teppan, I'm not going to argue with them about it though). And I will be having shrimp with a shrimp appetizer and steamed rice, not fried. They can keep the noodles too.
About the picture, the cat thinks the top bunk belongs to him and will perch here either waiting for Indy to skype or to watch a movie if I have one going. Today he is waiting. He's going to be disappointed though, as I will be using my netbook to skype with Indy at the table.

A daring dinner

I love salads, just about any kind. Chicken, not so much. But you can't beat a perfectly grilled chicken breast when it is accompanied by colorful tomatoes, romaine lettuce, fresh mozzarella, sprinkled with fresh basil and homemade oil & vinegar drizzled over it. A beautiful and yummy dinner. One that helps me keep up with my commitment.

Cat's Quarterly

If there was a cat's quarterly, then this picture would be the centerfold. The Cat thinks he's sexy and tries to convince us of his prowess as a cat hunk with these type of poses. Guess I had better watch out, he may decide he needs an agent.

VC at it's finest

Talk about the height of laziness, now the cat thinks he can conference while in bed (okay, on top of the bed). He and Indy spent a good 20 minutes with one another before one of them got bored. I think it was Indy. The cat is just not as exciting as Mindcraft or Lord of the Rings Legos.
Speaking of Lord of the Rings Legos, did you hear the rumor about them making a Batman 2 Legos movie? Pan was telling me about it. Should be interesting. And does anyone know anything about Legoworld Atlanta? We are thinking about taking the kids there soon.

Stinky Socks

Someone loves stinky socks, especially Pan's stinky socks, while they are still attached to him. If you come close the cat will put his paws around Pan's feet just daring to you try and take his stinky socks away from him. What a silly cat.

Still on it

Dreaming of Camelot ©Designs by Helly
I'm doing better at running everyday than I am about scrapping it. While I am nearly into a month with it, I have only managed to get to Day Five scrapped. And I haven't downloaded any of the pictures I have taken since so it may be a while before another page gets done. Most important thing though is to keep running.

Duh!

The daughter has a twisted since of humor. She is so nice-looking and then she does this. Way to go daughter! Hard to believe that in a little over a month she's going to be 33. Sure doesn't act it, LOL.

Video Conferencing

The cat and Indy video conferencing. I think they miss one another. Have a cuter picture to post in the next several days, but in the meantime, there's this one.
Still running daily. On days like today, where I have to go to work, I do 10 minutes in the morning and then between 20-30 when I get home, depending on how much time I have before Indy calls. While I am jumping with joy that my blood sugar levels are staying way down, it is still depressing to note that I have not lost one single pound. I have to keep reminding myself why I'm doing this, LOL.
I kind of like my mother's idea of getting a punching bag and taking up boxing. Maybe I should get one for her too. Stress release, right?

Each month I meet with a group of friends for a ladies' night out. In April we are having a garden party at one of the member's home. Since one of the things we have to do for it is wear a "Kentucky Derby" type hat, she wore one to our last outing to demonstrate. I got mine in last week, but need to finish it off with flowers. Will take a picture once it is done.

Isn't she gorgeous? It was great having her here over the holidays, although we didn't get to see to much of her, since she was spending most of her time with her dad. But she is definitely getting to be quite the young lady and truly a teenager now.

Fresh strawberries to go with my lunch of a peanut butter sandwich and glass of milk. I seem to eat a lot of peanut butter sandwiches and I don't really particularly care for peanut butter or peanuts. But they (it) help regulate your blood sugar, so eat it I do.

Sicky Workouts

Dinosaur Daze ©Kristin Aagard
Running late today. Feel icky with a sore throat that started last night. The bug tells me that her boys have the same thing. But so far I don't seem to be running a fever. Have worked out yet today, but will get in a least 10 minutes sometime. Don't want to start slacking off now after 21 days.
Have been checking into Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem since our insurance will help with the cost, but not sure which one to go with. NS seems to be the better buy, but I would like to know exactly what is included with the cost of JC. If you have an opinion, I would be delighted to know.

Goal working towards

The goal I'm working towards. To keep my blood sugar around this level for the rest of my life. And to do it naturally so I maybe I can eventually get off the medicine.

Now you're asking for it

"Get outta my face"~kfkap

He really meant it this time and after the picture was taken he snuggled right up to me and then took a nip out of my arm. He's lucky he didn't end up as fur pillow. Yet, I can't say that I blame him. I think I would have done the same if someone kept sticking a camera in my face. But until he stops annoying me, I won't stop annoying him.
