The Tribulation of Cars

I am sure many of you have seen Disney's Cars recently released on dvd. I know I have, nearly 4 times a day. It is a cute movie with a lot of good morales in it, but...

And there is always a but, isn't there? The only races I have ever seen were stock car races; and one 500 in New Orleans, so I am not an expert on racing. What I want from all you guys and gals who actually know something about racing is to explain to me about the pace car.

Been watching it daily since Grammie gave it to us on Thanksgiving Day! Racing not big here in the NE but is growing - my Mom has been involved because her boss started a race circuit of some sort. She actually rode in the pace car - I think it slows down the cars and groups them together in the event of an accident or safety issue on the track. But don't quote me, I've never atually been to a race.

Just think of the pace car as the cop car on the interstate. Nobody passes him or each other when he is around. It makes everybody play nice and go slow.

But why? It's a race.
