Word of the Week - DOLMEN

Disclaimer: All words that I choose come from the 1968 edition of the Webster's New World Dictionary, 2nd college edition. It's close and also nearly 40 years old so we may come across some words that are no longer in general use or have completely changed definitions. But that is part of the fun.

dolmen (n) a prehistoric tomb or monument consisting of a large flat stone laid across upright stones.
And what in the world can you do with this word? Well, you could write a sentence using it. You could look it up in another dictionary or reference book. (several dictionary searches available on my sidebar for your use.) Use it as a jump start for a short story. If applicable, find a picture of it. Whatever you do, post a link in my comments so I can check it out and put a link back to your post. And have fun.

This word evokes a very vivid sort of image in my mind. When I get a moment maybe I'll do some 'creative writing'--thanks for the inspiration!

Or you could go and visit one. They're littered all over the UK and Ireland.
