I was walking around with a baby q-tip (one of those honking big ones that you can't get into the ear canal, if you tried) sticking out of my ear, looking like Fred (or was it George) in the last HP movie. While I didn't have an ear infection, I did have a slight wax build-up, which drove my doctor to distraction because she couldn't get it out. So I was having to use ear drops to loosen and remove said build-up, ergo the q-tip.
