My kids always loved to get up close to the planes. They still do and were green with envy when their Dad got to fly on an incentive ride in an F-15 not so long ago... in Key West no less. (It still doesn't make up for all the time playing in the sandbox, but he's happy and the girls are all so jealous!) :o)
