After Grad Cook-Out

After the graduation (and I don't know why we didn't do it earlier), Nuke stopped off at the store to pick up all the fixings for a cook-out. Yes, our cabin even came with a gas grill on the deck. Of course, we didn't have much light over the grill so Pan had to guesstimate how cooked everything was. He did good. Oh, I remember why we didn't get the food earlier, we were going to go to a restaurant. We spent the evening telling stories of days gone by and seeing who could embarrass who the most. Mostly, I just sat back and listened, mostly.

Post-Grad Pictures

The obligatory post-graduation pictures with family and friends. And, of course, the one nut who has to make silly. If Indy looks awkward, it is because he is trying to hide the ds lite behind his back.

Pomp and Circumstances

Pictures say it all. A proud moment for her and for us.

The Entrance

And so it begins. Nuke used my camera to take the pictures. He is taller. In order to make sure we got a picture of the Daughter walking in, Nuke kept is eye glued to the camera and took a picture of every woman who waved in our general direction. And more luck. The Daughter was in the row behind and just three seats over from us in the center column of chairs.

Pre-Graduation Day

So much excitement in getting ready. After running around all morning we finally made it back to the cabin with time for everyone (all seven of us) to get ready to depart for the college. Nuke drove his own vehicle and as luck would have it, even though he left after us, he got a closer parking space so we were walking about 15 feet behind him. Didn't catch up until we got to the building. And we were able to see the Daughter before the commencement so she knew just where we were sitting.

Happy Birthday Daughter

Then (early 1980's)
Now (12/31/12 photo by DB)
Now (12/7/12 when she's being goofy)
It's difficult not to gloat when you realize that you have one of the most beautiful women in the world as your daughter. I have been so blessed to have children who were not only intelligent and responsible but also good looking. So here's to you, Daughter, wishing you a most pleasant and wonderful 33rd birthday.
