Cosmic Snapping Turtle

More cloud sketches. This time it reminded me of a giant snapping turtle, although, Indy promptly named it Gamera, after one of his favorite movie characters of all time. Right after Godzilla that is.

Got the boy

Finally made and picked the boy up. And once again, socks and shoes come off so that he can do an in-depth examination of his feet. For being a boy, he sure is obsessed with checking them out or maybe he just wants to count all the scratches and bug bites he got while out playing.

Tickled my funny bone

When we pulled up for gas, this caught my eye. I wonder what Certified Purveyors of the Ice do? And is it a job I would find fasinating? LOL

Rustic homes

Some of the older homes that we passed by. I don't know why I like having pictures of these older homes, but I do. I have some earlier ones that I have converted to black and white and have framed.

Foliage along the highway

On June 23rd, we headed out once again to get Indy and bring him home. Along the way, I tried to get some pictures of the beautiful and somethings interesting trees and foliage along the way. And this time even managed to get a picture of one of the rivers we pass over. Surprisingly, it turned out okay.

Pool party anyone?

June found us having the Ladies Night Out at the home of one of our members for a pool party. We had such a good time with plenty of food (mostly salads) and drink (which included beer, wine and margaritas). But as the evening wore on and darkness fell, the storm clouds started to roll in.

Weather reports

It has been a bizarre summer as the weather flies. I'm use to the daily deluges while we are in Orlando, but come on now. Up here? Yet, that is what has been happening. Even now as I write this, I can hear the patter of rain on the windows.

Missing his pest

Missing his bestie. Actually he's probably missing his bestie's clothes. And since Indy's clothes are no longer available, he is taking up with a local towel. Gosh, he looks pitiful. Indy better get back soon.

Wispy White

I really like the wispy white clouds against the deep blue sky. Just something peaceful about the combination and it looks awesome. But in examining this photo, I think our roads need to be repaved and not just patched.

Cloudy thinkers

Could you see it? The thinker in the clouds. I love it when I take a picture of a cloud and you can find something familiar in it.

Giving him up is a hard thing to do

The first week of summer was over and we had to head out to turn him over to his father's parents. He refused to eat breakfast before we left, but soon afterwards he found the apples and peach that I had packed for him to eat at this other grandparents home. Peaches and apples are not exactly mess-free, but luckily I had a roll of paper towels in the car. For the most part he kept himself entertained with electronics, such as the netbook (on which he watched movies) and his ipod. But once we got to the meeting point, he decided to take his shoes and socks off so that he could examine his feet. Go figure. Getting back home was a quiet affair and we both were missing him terribly, even though we knew he would be back in three weeks.

Stoopid Cat

No sooner than Indy removed his clothes and placed them on the bed, the cat pounced and promptly made them his. It was a habit he would exhibit throughout the summer while the kids were here.

Paparazzi?

There is no doubt that Indy hates to have his picture taken and will go out of his way to ruin it if he can. And I think he likes to see how far down he can make a frown go.

Long overdue summer pictures

At the start of summer (for Indy it was late May), we spent an evening at the theater to see Star Trek's Into Darkness. While waiting for the clean-up crew to finish so we could pick out our seats, Indy actually let me take pictures of him posing before the various movie displays.

As they take their bows

Template by Yin
And so the show concludes with the prince and princess living happily ever after. That is until the next showing when it will be much hotter. There definitely was no shade for either the actors nor the audience. Fortunately, it was not a terribly long show.

Magic Kingdom Archives are a treasure trove of information

Template by Yin; Angel's Breath ©Laitha's Designs; Text ©Magic Kingdom Archives
There was not much you could really say about the show, that wasn't covered in the official press release, so I used that as my journaling. The Magic Kingdom archives also included some of the interesting facts surrounding the show which I also included.

the guests arrive at Cinderellabration

Template by Yin; Angel's Breath ©Laitha's Designs
Didn't think I was going to get this one uploaded. But finally it worked for me. The costumes were stunning in such vibrant colors. And get a load of the king and the fairy godmother taking a spin around the stage. It was definitely a show worth seeing.

Cinderellabration

Template by Yin; Angel's Breath ©Laitha's Designs
How great that we were at Disney when they were having the Cinderellabration. And lucky for me that I arrived for their first show in the morning so it was not as hot nor were there as many people. I can't imagine what it would have been like for the actors in the middle of the day in those costumes.

Mount Everest and Gracie

Template by Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
The new ride/exhibit, "Mount Everest," was still in the building stages when I was there in 2005. But very close to being finished. Not that I would ride it. Well, maybe if the kids were there and they really wanted to. What really amazed me though was Gracie. A vineyard nymph, that also happened to be an animatronic. She was so very life-like that, until she came out from behind the tree, I thought it was a real person.

Onward Rafiki

Template by Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
Next stop for me was to Rafiki's Planet. A short train ride to a conservation site with life-size cutouts of endangered species and plenty to read about them. Of course, on the way over, we got to see the actual animals.

Take a bow

Template by Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
As with all good things, the show came to an end. And the winner was... each corner of the audience as they were got to watch such an amazing and colorful show based on one of Disney's most popular movie series. Next stop, more of the Animal Kingdom.

Trapaise Artists

Template by Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
There's that Timon again. But look at the performers doing their bird impressions. Wow what a graceful ballet mid-air it was. Don't get to close to the fire-eater if you don't want to get burned.

More of the same

Template by Simply Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
Timon dominated the show, but Simba and Pumbaa made appearances as well. The performers really made an effort to include children and the rest of the audience in their production, pitting one corner against the others.

Lion King Festival

Template by Simply Yin; Gypsy ©Designs by Helly; Treasure Hunter ©Indigo Designs
Next stop...The Lion King Festival much along the same lines as the Cirque de Soleil (sp). Very enjoyable and was surprised to find that they encouraged photography, sans the flash. Which is understandable as you don't want the performers blinded by the light.
