It's Monday Already?

Something happened this weekend to really put a damper on my days. Suffice it to say that I bought something online for my sister, password protected it and put it in a special folder in my 4shared account and I actually had someone write wanting the password. That just tells me I can't do anything online for family and get it to them immediately without others taking what they want.

Okay enough ranting, I guess. So how was your weekend? Otherwise, mine was good. We had company on Saturday and watch "Indiana Jone and the Crystal Skull." Last night we tacked a sheet up to the wall to try out the projector we got for the kids so that we could set up a drive/walk-in theater in the backyard for them (invitation only, lol). We watched "Bridge to Terebithia" and I can't remember a more depressing movie. I was under the impression that it was a fantasy. There was some, but not much.

Okay, dishonest people and a depressing movie... Guess my weekend wasn't all that great.

More of Tink's Computer Tribulations

Don't know if I will be able to do the blog prompt as today my computer started making a whomp whomp sound. Pan says a bearing is going on in one of the fans. And quite frankly I don't want to loose anything, so after I post this I'm turning it off. I may end up turning it back on for a while in the a.m., but maybe not. In the meantime, this is the last layout from our May 2006 trip to Disney. After a short break (1 day) to another era, we will be returning to layouts of our trip to Orlando in 2000.

The Tribulations Will Never Cease

I'm po'd. Totally. Especially with our welfare system in place now. My daughter who is a single mother with 2 children and works exceptionally hard and tries not rely on anyone for anything was denied help with daycare expenses today because she made too much money the last six weeks. She has to work overtime to pay her rent, car payment, food, doctors bills (because she can't get help for that either) and utilities.

They told her to come back when she wasn't working overtime and they could help her. She explained that if they would help her she wouldn't have to work overtime. So what we have here is a catch 22. She's damned if she does, she's damned if she doesn't. And all they used was six weeks of pay stubs. No expenses. How can you figure out if help is needed if you don't know what they are having to put in expenses. AND she is in the food business. The amount you make is not only determined by how good you are, but the season and a multitude of other factors. It should be based on an actual annual income, not six weeks added together then averaged as a weekly basis. Thing is if it was just a matter of six weeks we could help out during that time, but it isn't. It took her four months to get this appointment. Four months would be stretching even us since we just had to replace nearly all our appliances.

I'm just so frustrated and would like someone to explain to me why a young woman, who is doing her best to be contributing member of society should be ostracized; while there are people out there sitting on their hind ends just taking my tax money. I want my tax dollars to help those who are willing to help themselves. So if you know the answer; please, please, please explain it to me. If you don't, please take a moment to write your congressmen and senators and ask them why.

And don't comment it that it is the Democrats or Republicans causing the problems, we all know full well that this transcends parties and has been a problem for both.

A Rant of a Tribulation

Yes, I am ranting. I should actually be catching up on blog prompts but I am sooooo mad. I would like to know what happened to "the customer is always right." Anybody know? Anybody?

It started earlier this week (like on Saturday) when Pan made a call the insurance company to see about getting my windshield replaced. It's got a crack across it. And if you live in Florida, insurance companies pay the cost of replacement. (I'm sure our insurance rates are a little higher because of it, as well). Anyway they gave him the name of the company they want us to use.

Pan calls, gets perky little Wendy on the phone who says they can come on Tuesday, 1-4. We can't do it Tuesday, I work. Thursday then, 9-12 or 1-4. Again I work (he had already told her this to begin with). So let's try one more time... Friday 9-12 or 1-4. Friday morning would be great, as I am going out of town Friday afternoon.

Wendy calls me today to say they aren't going to make it out until tomorrow afternoon. "Wendy, I'm not happy about this. I have to leave tomorrow afternoon," I reply more than tersely. Well according to her this is the only time I can have it done or wait. "Can you have them there by one?" the ice is filtering through the phone I am sure. "No." "I need a time, Wendy." "No. Can't guarantee a time." "Can you at least make sure they are there before three?" as the volcano of a headache starts to erupt and the speech grows louder to compensate for the lack of my being able to hear what I am saying. "No." "I will call you back."

Pan called back and they are coming tomorrow. If they don't show until 4:00, I will be making a complaint to the insurance company, the company itself and the better business bureau and anybody else you can think of. Forget that I am going to making a complaint no matter what.

Maybe I should have mentioned to her that I worked for a newspaper and we were thinking about doing an article on how businesses fail to live up to their responsibilities and hire nincompoops to man their phones.

No Call List and a Tribulation

I got a call from a mortgage lender wanting to discuss lowering our mortage interest. First I start out with the standard, I'm not going to be making that decision without consulting my husband so you might as well wait and call him, when in mid-sentence I recalled that we are on the "no call list."

Umm... where did you get this number from? Well ma'am from your lender. Oh, guess I will have to talk to my lender then, because we are on the no call list and you shouldn't be calling. Write if you want our business.

You know, I really think lenders (who are getting paid to disclose these numbers) should have to pay us for every unwanted call we get. I mean what is the purpose of being on a no call list if your lender can sell your number to whomever. Yep, I think $100 for every unwanted call might suffice.
