Birthday Surprises...NOT

Mom was in the hospital and the Bug and her family came up to visit. It just so happened to correspond with her birthday. So a little party we had at mom's house. Did you notice her candles? I don't think she did initially. Nice to be able to celebrate her birthday with her once again.

Photo Ops

One Saturday during the summer, ddpuppies, the Princess and myself took a photography class to learn more about our cameras. The Princess ended up with mine, but I did take it back a couple of times to get some pictures.

"Gypsy" 1936-2013

"Gypsy"
1936 - 2013

Gypsy, 76, passed away on September 7, 2013. She was born in Pensacola  on November 14, 1936. She graduated from high school in 1954. She married her love in 1955. She was intelligent, beautiful, hardworking, a wonderful mother and wife. She loved to garden and do crossword puzzles. She was a great cook and had recipes that the whole family loved, like her meatloaf. She was a seamstress for the family, from weddings to Halloween costumes to regular every day clothes.

Gypsy is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother. She is survived by her daughters, Tink and husband, Pan; poppies and husband, Bear; VW Bug and husband, Brains; a brother and his wife. Five grandchildren, Nuke and wife, Milady; Scamp and wife, Honey; Daughter; Tater and Tot. Three great-grandchildren, The Princess, Ballerina and Indy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are to be made to Covenant Hospice.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the family, friends and Covenant Hospice for their support in her final days.

A star named Gypsy

Gypsy, my mother, believed in the celebration of life. An avid gardener, her yard attested to this by the many varieties of wildlife that found refuge there. She could always be found putting out food and placing plants, that were not only beautiful to look at but provided food and hiding places, for the many birds that flew through.

She, also, never stopped trying to learn all she could about everything. She was the one who gave me a passion for astronomy and ancient history that still exists to this day. As a child, I remember her laying a blanket on the lawn and we would sit there studying the stars, learning the constellations and discussing them. Then there were the times, especially when her brother would visit, that we would pull out all of the encyclopedias and have them scattered about the floor as we would look up one interest after another. As time passed and I moved away, I cherished the times I spent with her on weekends where we could debate and discuss anything from politics and religion to what books and movies to take in.

At the funeral of one of her friends, she saw the granddaughter was wearing a colorful dress. She thought that it epitomized the celebration of life she so loved; and requested that we wear yellow to honor her life.

She also requested that we not mourn her passing but to celebrate the new journey she was to embark upon. She would not be alone on this journey, but would have the help and love of her husband; her parents; and one of her brothers.

While we may hurt from the loss of such a special woman and mother, we speed her on her way with all our love.

Continue learning mom, and we look forward to the time when we are joined once again at the star named Gypsy.

Happy Mother's Day

To the best mom ever. Thanks for all you have done for me and the sibs over the decades (boy, that makes it sound like forever, huh?). Thank you for the values you taught and the morals by which you lived your life that we have incorporated into our lives. Thank you for being a sounding board, for giving excellent advice and for knowing which we needed. Love you mom....

Duh!

The daughter has a twisted since of humor. She is so nice-looking and then she does this. Way to go daughter! Hard to believe that in a little over a month she's going to be 33. Sure doesn't act it, LOL.

Happy Birthday Scamp

Hard to believe my middle child is now 34. Where has the time gone? I look back at the sweet little boy all bundled up in a blanket and think to the now when he is a grown man with a family of his own. Happy Birthday, Son.

Speaking of ddpuppies

I had not been around when this picture was taken. Probably a good thing too, as I am sure I would have added a few comments on how short she has gotten. The Princess will not be borrowing any more of her shoes or clothes and I don't think Indy would really want to borrow any, LOL. Soon, even he will be towering over her. Just give him a year or so. But right now we can just enjoy the stepladder effect of the three of them together.

I wish I could say the last gift I gave

was to the Bug, it was actually to Pan for our anniversary. Flowers and a card. I really need to change that. Do something different. Maybe a night at a really nice hotel. I'll work on it for next year. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUG...... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

Friday, August 03, 2012

I sure hope that I remember

to call Bug tomorrow and wish her a happy birthday. That would be a big accomplishment and one that I really want to follow through with. (But just in case.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUG/ROOSTER).

I really wish I was in bed

Sea Spray (c) Spinky Dink

Oh I know I shouldn't worry, but I do. My preferences are the same. Drive when there is less traffic and get there early. I just can't sleep though when she is driving such a long way at night.

I had a night free of dreams

Sea Spray (c) Spinky Dink
Today should be an exciting day, if only I could break free from the house. Our local electric company is working on the underground wires and has me blocked in. Later I shall go shopping to prepare for company. Yes, they will be here soon for the summer. Today should be an exciting day.
